ANT INVASION
Ants are an extremely common pest. They don’t typically live in your house, but they will make frequent visits if they know they have a constant source of food. In order to keep them out, it’s helpful to first understand why they might be invading your home in the first place.
FOOD SOURCE
The worker ants’ job is to bring food back to the colony for the queen. Leaving leftover food lying around is an easy way for these ants to get what they need. Be sure to clean up any spills or crumbs right away, as letting it sit will give the ants more time to find the food source. Even a single grain of sugar or drop of syrup is enough to attract ants!
ACCESS
Ants are small and can fit through the tiniest cracks, and where there’s a will there’s a way. Be sure to re-seal doors and windows frequently. Also, try not to leave these windows or doors open, you want to prevent the ants from getting inside your home so keeping a close eye on access points is important.
COLONIES NEAR YOUR HOME
As mentioned before, ants do not want to live in your home. But if they know they can access food, they will build colonies close by. If you are experiencing a frequent ant invasion, check the outside perimeter of your home for colonies. Eliminating the colony makes this pest prevention a whole lot easier. We do not recommend handling these colonies by yourself!
